White Privilege

We were asked to make a portrait for two covers of Volkskrant's Vonk Magazine. They were doing an article on 'white privilege'. White privilege is a term for societal privileges that benefit people identified as white in Western countries, beyond what is commonly experienced by non-white people under the same social, political, or economical circumstances. The goal of Vonk's first article on the issue was to open the eyes of their 'white' readers. The second article, a year later, we were asked to photograph the same model and write some of the typical privileges that 'white' people experience on her face. For this photograph worked together with graphic design agency Studio BAR.
